MAQ BEFORE AND NOW..

Doha may seem strange to many Malaysians back home, but this place has been inhabited by several Malaysians for over 7upDown 20 years, namely those on assignment with the oil and gas industries like QGPC (now Qatar Energy), Qatargas, etc.

Since 1998, the trend of Malaysian professional expatriates venturing to Qatar has increased significantly with numbers exceeding more than a thousand people. The Malaysian Association of Qatar (MAQ), was formed on 14 April 2000 on the recommendation of YB Dato' Paduka Abdul Kadir Sheikh Fadzir, then Minister of Tourism, Arts and Culture, who was on an official visit to Qatar.

MAQ is officially recognized by the Government of Malaysia as the Association representing Malaysians in Qatar and sponsored by the Malaysian Ambassador to the State of Qatar.
